At Girls at Work, we pride ourselves in having built a welcoming environment that encourages girls to believe in themselves, even on their most difficult days. Using the Socratic Method of instruction in our workshops enables us to train interested individuals, even those who are not woodworkers, on how to be effective instructors. Our goal is to teach the girls to use power tools safely while encouraging them to think critically about how each project is built. The experience of building with power tools elevates self-confidence and self-esteem which leads to a new narrative for our girls, one of strength and courage. Because when girls learn how to build with power tools, they come away with more than skills in woodworking — they come away empowered for life

What you’ll gain from this experience:

  • Discover and embolden your own voice as you help girls do the same.
  • A sense of purpose impacting the next generation of female leaders.
  • Experience working on a dynamic empowerment based team.
  • Professional development in areas such as giving and receiving effective feedback, youth behavior management techniques, and communication skills.

We are looking for applicants who:

  • Are flexible and open to learning/coaching
  • Have a positive attitude
